The home fires aren’t burning for ‘The Bern’ anymore. You might say Bernie’s chances to grab the nomination have gone as cold as the “1977 Buffalo Blizzard”  or a frozen Lake Erie summer house.

The Washington Post – Former vice president Joe Biden seized control of the Democratic presidential contest Tuesday with four victories, including a decisive win in Michigan that struck a devastating blow to Bernie Sanders’s ambitions after the senator from Vermont committed his campaign to winning the key Midwestern swing state.

Biden also scored resounding wins Tuesday in Mississippi, Missouri and Idaho while two other states — North Dakota and Washington — continued to count ballots.

The Washington Post – Former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg on Wednesday exited a Democratic presidential race reshaped by a resurgent former vice president Joe Biden’s surprisingly strong showing on Super Tuesday, which so far has wiped out the delegate lead of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

After failing to claim any victories on Tuesday, including in her home state, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) was reassessing her candidacy, and her campaign manager told staff that she needs “the time and space to consider what comes next.”

Super Tuesday marked a disappointing debut for former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg, while Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) failed to claim any victories, including in her home state.

BuzzFeed News – Michael Bloomberg is airing an ad titled “Pandemic” across TV nationwide. Elizabeth Warren put out an early plan for preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Amy Klobuchar has talked about containing the virus as a way of transcending partisan politics. And Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, and Tom Steyer are all talking about the virus as they campaign ahead of the South Carolina primary on Friday and in 16 Super Tuesday contests next week.

The common factor: Each candidate has turned the outbreak into a new, potent critique of Trump, hitching their individual campaign messaging to a story that has otherwise begun to pull Americans’ attention away from the presidential election.
